Blackburn Hamlet Preschool is looking to immediately hire a general contractor to manage the repair work to the Preschool building this summer. The qualified candidate would be responsible for ensuring that the proposed scope of work be completed within the available budget by July 31, 2015.
Responsibilities would include scheduling and coordinating certified tradespeople and working with volunteers, as well as doing some of the repair work directly. The ability to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, would be an asset.

The proposed scope of work is subject to approval by the City of Ottawa, with the finalized scope of work expected to be confirmed shortly.
The repairs outlined in the scope of work must be completed and inspected to the satisfaction of the City of Ottawa in order for the Preschool to be able to operate in September. This is the condition of the lease extension recently negotiated with the City. (See the page Save BHPS for more information.) Given the tight timelines, Blackburn Hamlet Preschool is looking for someone who would be able to start work as soon as possible and who recognizes the importance of this project to the community.
